How excited were we today when we saw that two students from our class were featured in the 100 Word Challenge. A real honour for Rachel and Nick. They were recommended by Team 100WC (people who read and comment on 100 WC blogs) as students who have completed a high standard of work. Their faces were priceless! Wished I got them on camera but I did get photos of two ecstatic students. Well done Nick and Rachel. We are proud of you and very impressed. The challenge is on to see if others can achieve the same. Go Team!
Max was
Mia and the Bracelet There I was running through a mud covered forest being chased by the F.B.I., because I had stumbled upon a temple full of gold and taken a little gold charm bracelet. It just wasn’t fair, I’d lost my dad and I wanted a place to sleep when I’d taken that thing. Just then a huge spotlight came out of the sky, shining on me and then a loud voice came over and it said.“Stop! This is the F.B.I. Stop running and hand yourself in or we will shoot”.I didn’t care if I got shot. So I just ran and then I felt a pain in my shoulder and there was blood everywhere. Loved seeming all my students hard at work completing the 100 Word Challenge this week. They have enjoyed the challenge and are excited to have a purpose to their writing. A nice change than having them write for no reason. Looking forward to the next challenge. Now to just proofread work.
Week 1 may have been a short week for the students but it certainly was a fun week in our class. This week we focused on developing relationships, establishing routines and structures, working together on decorating our classroom and having fun. We laughed - a lot - and started the beginning of what looks like an amazing year. Our very first activity was sharing a random fact about ourselves and then throwing the ball of string to create a web. We discussed that even though we are all different, unique and random in some ways, this year we are all connected and need to work together to create a safe, happy environment. We also completed a brainstorm, the good old fashion way, on what makes a great class mate. There were some great answers and some interesting ones too. We enjoyed having access to all the iPads and used these to contribute to questions posed by Mrs Walsh on Padlet. Overall, a great week and lots of fun. Looking forward to an awesome year this year. Welcome 5/6J!
